PHILANTHROPY

  • NAPEX distributes proceeds from its annual Show in support of numerous Philatelic Organizations and initiatives. Since 2003, we have contributed more than $43,500 toward these efforts. Listed below are some of the grants and donations NAPEX makes. Multi-year pledges are listed in the year they were completed.
  • In addition to contributions below, NAPEX has several ongoing charitable commitments. These include a $300 annual sponsorship of six AAPE Youth Champion of Champions special awards ($2,550 since 2003); a $150 Annual Fund Campaign Honor Roll gift to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum ($750 since 2008); and up to $600 annually in Gerhard S. Wolff scholarships, good toward the APS On the Road educational course preceding NAPEX (begun in 2013).

    $10,000 Presidential Level Sponsorship of the William H. Gross Stamp Gallery at the National Postal Museum ($3,250 paid to date)
  • 2013
    $3,000 travel grant to the Oaxaca Museum of Philately (MUFI), enabling their Director and a Consultant to make a site visit to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum for an exchange with the Council of Philatelists and NPM Staff
  • 2012
    $500 publication grant for Illustrated Guide of Genuine Surcharge Types of the 1881-1888 Spanish Philippine Issues by Donald J. Peterson, Nigel Gooding, and Thomas Lera
  • 2011
    $200 to the Springfield (VA) Stamp Club
  • 2010
    $400 to the Springfield (VA) Stamp Club

    $500 to the Europa Study Unit in honor of the late Stephen Luster

    $12,500 to the American Philatelic Research Library for a study carrel

    $1,000 sponsorship of a NAPEX scholarship at the National Postal Museum

    $1,000 to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Charles J. Peterson

    $1,500 sponsorship of the National Postal Museum's Alphabetilately exhibit

    $1,000 to the American Philatelic Society Tiffany Endowment in honor of the late Nicholas G. Carter

    $500 to the American Philatelic Society for the Gordon & Mary Morison Pavilion

    $750 publication grant for The Philately of Twentieth Century Postwar Reconstruction by Stephen Luster

    $750 publication grant for Watermarks on Postage Stamp Paper by Louis E. Repeta

    $250 to the American Philatelic Society in honor of the late Henry Hahn

    $1,000 to the National Postal Museum in honor of the late W. Wilson Hulme
